Wife, son and two brothers die saving a man from sewage trench

Four persons, including a mother-son duo died Sunday by asphyxiation while trying save a man who slipped into a sewage trench in Utersoo area of Shangus.
A police official said Mohammad Maqbool Khan slipped into the sewage trench while he was repairing it near his house in Khanpora village.

Khan’s wife Shameema and son Sabzar Ahmad Khan along with two of his neighbours, jumped into the trench to save him. But all of them fell unconscious,” the police official said.
As news of the horrific incident spread, hundreds of villagers rushed to the spot and managed to retrieve all the five persons and removed them to the sub-district hospital at Shangus where doctors declared Shameema as “brought dead”.
The others were taken to district hospital Anantnag where three among them succumbed.
The condition of Khan was stated to be critical.
The deceased were identified as Shameema wife of Mohd Maqbool Khan, their son Sabzar Khan and two brothers Zahid Ahmad Ahanger and Umar Ahmad Ahanger sons of Ghulam Mohd Ahanger.
A pal of gloom descended on the Khanpora village as bodies of the four were brought there. All the four were buried in the local graveyard amid sobs and heart wrenching scenes.
